Yard Operations Manager

About the Role
We are now seeking an experienced, career-focused, and ambitious individual to join our team as Yard Operations Manager.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient day-to-day running of our yard — ensuring excellent customer service, effective team management, high housekeeping standards, and strong health & safety compliance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient day-to-day running of our yard — ensuring excellent customer service, effective team management, high housekeeping standards, and strong health & safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times.
- Organise materials for deliveries and customer collections.
- Manage the yard roster in conjunction with Branch Management.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised yard and stores.
- Lead and supervise yard operatives, delegating tasks effectively.
- Maintain stock levels and support the Stock Controller with regular stock counts.
- Ensure the delivery function operates efficiently and on schedule.
- Conduct weekly Health & Safety walkarounds and ensure all loading/unloading is completed safely and correctly.
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience as a Yard Manager (desirable).
- Strong Health & Safety awareness.
- Experience working in a Builders’ Merchant environment.
- Solid knowledge of building materials.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
